Ciara Greene, ADCRG
Ciara Greene was born in Queens, New York to parents of Irish decent. Ciara's father was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Ciara's maternal grandparents were from County Clare and County Longford. Both Ciara's parents, Seamus and Rosemary, took Irish music and Irish dancing lessons. Ciara's grandmother, Maureen Greene, opened the Greene School of Irish Step Dancing in Glasgow, Scotland in 1940. In 1962, the school was relocated to Boston, MA and eventually renamed the Greene-O’Leary School of Irish Step dancing. The school continues to thrive under the direction of Ciara’s aunt, Maureen Greene-O’Leary. Ciara’s grandmother was presented with the Gradam Award in 2007 for her contribution to Irish dancing and culture.
Ciara began Irish Step Dancing with the Donny Golden School of Irish Dance at age four. Ciara competed on the local, regional, national and world level for 20 years. Ciara has danced with renowed Irish musicians such as Cherish the Ladies, the Chieftains, Lúnasa, Mick Maloney, Eileen Ivers, Shillelagh Law, Girsa, Celtic Crossroads, Paddy Noonan, Jerry O'Sullivan, Black 47, Trinity Irish Dance Company among others. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall, the New Jersey Pac Center, BB Kings Blues Club, Madison Square Garden, the Tilles Center, the United Nations in NYC, the Egg Performing Arts Center in Albany, at the 2008 Republican National Convention, the Yale Club of New York City, Hunter Mountain Irish Festival, Irish Fest 2000 at Altamount Fair Grounds etc. In April 2010 Ciara received her TCRG, making her a certified Irish Step Dancing Teacher registered with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin, Ireland. Ciara is a third generation TCRG. Ciara opened the Ciara Greene School of Irish Step Dancing in January 2011 in Bayside, Queens. In 2022 Ciara became a certified Irish dancing judge, a ADCRG.

Ciara attended Siena College and received her Bachelors Degree and teaching certification in History Education. Ciara obtained her Masters Degree from Queens College in Special Education and a certificate from Saint Rose College in Building Administration.

The Ciara Greene School of Irish Step Dancing is located in Bayside, Queens and Smithtown, Long Island. Our dancers have performed on the Today Show on NBC, at Citifield for the NY Mets, in the off-Broadway production of Celtic Nights – Oceans of Hope and with the renowned Irish musicians Lunasa, We Banjo 3 and with Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones. Our dancers have competed on the Regional and National Level placing 1st place in the U17 traditional set piece competition and Adult four hand competition.
